For 20 years, I've stood behind a microphone as "Johnny Chase."More than 6,000 shows.
Thousands of songs.
Hundreds of thousands of miles.
A lifetime of moments I never could have planned.
Over the years, music has taken me places I never imagined it would. Television placements. The Grammys. Stages all across the world. Incredible opportunities and unforgettable experiences.
But that's not really what this evening is about.
This evening is about what music did for me.
Because the truth is, music didn't just become my career.
Music saved my life.
There have been seasons when music was the only thing that made sense.
When I was fighting through a brain tumor.
When I faced vocal surgery and the possibility that I might never sing again.
When I lost my son Chase and found myself standing in a place no parent ever wants to stand…not just once, but twice…
When grief, fear, uncertainty, and heartbreak seemed larger than anything I could carry.
Somehow, through all of it, there was always a song.
Sometimes I was writing it.
Sometimes I was singing it.
Sometimes I was living it.
Sometimes I was simply holding onto it.
Music became the place where I could process what I couldn't explain.
It became the bridge between heartbreak and healing.
And over time, I discovered that many of the people sitting in front of me at shows were carrying their own stories too.
I'm inviting you into a different kind of evening.
A small, intimate storyteller event.
Just me.
An acoustic guitar.
The songs.
And the stories behind them.
The stories behind "801 Days."
The stories behind "Invincible."
The stories behind "Good-Bye Son."
The stories behind "Let's Just Go."
The stories behind the songs that helped me survive some of the hardest moments of my life.
We'll talk about loss.
We'll talk about resilience.
We'll talk about hope.
We'll talk about the strange ways life changes us and the unexpected ways we find our way back.
Along the way, I'll share stories from twenty years of performing, from television placements to the Road to the Grammys, from thousands of shows on stages of all shapes and sizes, local dive bars, wineries, backyards, stadiums, arenas, and all the moments in between.
This won't be a typical concert.
It will be part performance, part conversation, part reflection, and part celebration of the music that carried us through.
The evening will also be professionally filmed for a future release, making everyone in attendance part of a project that means more to me than I can adequately put into words.
