A TRUE STORY OF SURVIVAL THROUGH GOD’S POWER

My name is John Turner. I am hard of hearing, a single father of two beautiful sons, an author, and a speaker. I grew up in Boston’s Orchard Park projects in Roxbury, Massachusetts.

1. At three years old, I lost most of my hearing after a serious illness. I faced bullying because of my hearing and speech and struggled to be understood. My childhood also included losing my mother and living through difficult circumstances.
2. At ten years old, before the gangs became part of my life, something happened that I would never forget.
3. While I was alone in a park in Orchard Park, my body and voice locked. I could not move or speak. Something powerful happened inside me that I did not understand at the time.
4. As I grew older, I survived gun violence and faced gangs, loss, and other moments that could have taken my life. During moments of danger, powerful warnings rose inside me, alerting me when I needed to move. I know those warnings came from God’s power living inside me. That power will never go away.
5. Today, I am sharing my life in my own words through my book, When the Warning Comes, I Move!, and my live tour. I want you to understand what I survived, what happened inside me, and the father, author, and speaker I am today.

This event is for anyone who wants to hear my true story. A voice interpreter will be present. There will be time for questions, and books will be available for purchase and signing.
