ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Joey Clift is a Los Angeles-based comedian, TV writer, director, Peabody and Emmy-nominated producer, and enrolled member of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe. Joey attended college to become a local TV weather person because he didn’t see any Native American comedians on television as a kid, and that made him believe he wasn’t allowed to work in comedy. He has since proven otherwise, writing for critically acclaimed TV series like Spirit Rangers on Netflix, Molly of Denali on PBS and Paw Patrol on Nickelodeon. Joey created Gone Native, a Webby-winning Comedy Central Digital series and his short films have screened everywhere from Just for Laughs to the Smithsonian Museum.
ABOUT THE CONVERSATION PARTNER
Joshua Emerson is a Navajo comedian, actor, and writer based in Denver, CO. He produces the Native American comedy showcase, Bad Indian, at clubs and festivals across the country including Netflix is a Joke, SF Sketchfest and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Joshua was selected for a Mayor's Award for Excellence in Arts & Culture in 2023 and was apart of NCAIED's Indian Country's "40 under 40" class of 2026. He currently serves on the Denver American Indian Commission for the City of Denver and the board of the Arts District on Sante Fe.
