Jodo Shinshu UK’s Hōonkō 2027 -from Manchester

The event will be structured around four blocks: 

1. Friday 22nd Evening
2. Saturday 23rd  Morning 
3. Saturday 23rd Afternoon-Evening
4. Sunday 24th Morning

Each of these blocks will consist of a service, Dharma talk and discussion, led by one of the four priests affiliated with Jodo Shinshu UK: Rev. David Quirke-Thornton, Rev. Louella Matsunaga, Rev. Caroline Brazier and Rev. Enrique Galván-Álvarez 

There will also be workshops on how to build an altar and other practical matters. There will be plenty of opportunities to socialise informally with other attendees. Further details and a full schedule will be announced closer to the time. 

Other information:

• The event is free. At JSUK we aim to make the Jodo Shinshu teaching available free of cost to all those interested. However as a registered charity (1215240) we survive on donations. We gratefully accept any donations that can help us cover the expenses for putting together this event (e.g. venue hire, refreshments, etc.). 
• This event is non-residential. Please make sure you make your own accommodation arrangements for the weekend. Luther King House (https://maps.app.goo.gl/Gh8K4C6BG6Z7B23i8) has affordable rooms and is very close to the venue (2min walk).
• Tea/coffee and light refreshments will be provided but otherwise we will not be serving food. However, the Birch Community Centre is very close to Manchester’s famous Curry Mile, with many food options within walking distance.
