Join Vancouver-based classical pianist Jocelyn Lai for an afternoon of music and discovery as she explores themes of transcendence, identity, and human experience through the works of Chopin and Schubert. Blending performance with engaging commentary, Jocelyn invites listeners into the rich expressive worlds of these beloved composers and reveals how the piano can give voice to both our deepest emotions and our highest aspirations and Jocelyn Lai is celebrated for her compelling artistry and imaginative programming. Praised for balancing “lush lyricism, sparkling keyboard figurations, and formal rigour” by the Vancouver Sun, she has appeared in recitals across Canada, the United States, and Spain as a soloist and chamber musician. A dedicated educator, Jocelyn leads the piano department at Douglas College and serves on the faculty of the Vancouver Academy of Music. She holds degrees from UBC, The Juilliard School, the Cleveland Institute of Music, and CUNY Graduate Center, and is grateful to her musical mentors Jane Coop, Julian Martin, and HaeSun Paik.
