Two women. One dead jester. A comedy without interval.Two women in Robes de Cour sit in the King's court after the death of a jester. A replacement is expected. They are not worried.
What follows is a meditation on fools. A frivolous intellectual amusement becomes something harder and harder to turn away from: a reckoning with who these women are to each other and what it means to need someone — anyone — to see you.
JESTERLESS is a comedy set in 1765 that has no interest in historical accuracy. It is about attachment, ceremony, and the power of unquestioning faith.

Tilda Barrie and Marlies Iserlohe are trained in improv, clown and acting. Together they have created, produced and performed in a sold-out season run of PREVIOUSLY ON... at the Improv Conspiracy Theatre (2026), are both on house teams at the theatre, and have staged numerous productions as part of Defrost Festival (2024/2025).
Tilda is a co-producer and performer of LOWEST PRICES ARE JUST THE BEGINNING at MICF (2026) and Melbourne Fringe (2025).
Marlies co-created, produced and performed in a sold-out season run of REFRAMED at the Improv Conspiracy Theatre (2024), ASH AND MARLIES ARE...AMICABLE at MICF (2025), and MUDCRABS TRI-HARD at Melbourne Fringe (2017).
