About this Event
Highly acclaimed, soulful singer songwriter Jeffrey Gaines has been called “the voice of a generation” by Rolling Stone.
Jeffrey Gaines has been heralded for his soul-searching lyrics and his powerful live performances. With only his voice, guitar and considerable charisma, Gaines has captivated audiences around the world. Raised by soul-music-loving parents, he has an irresistible “soul-folkie’s sexy growl” (MoJo). Over 30+ years of touring and recording, he has sold out theaters and clubs throughout North America and Europe, and has been featured as Special Guest on tours with Sting, Melissa Etheridge, and Tracy Chapman among others. He is just off a tour with a special guest spot on Roger Daltrey's recent tour..
Gaines’ voice can move from a whisper to a roar and his combination of emotional honesty, commanding vocals and remarkable connection with an audience earned him recognition from Pollstar as a top live solo artist.
Gaines burst onto the scene with his acclaimed self-titled 1992 debut and its standout song “Hero in Me,” beginning a recording career that now spans eight albums. Along the way, his intensely felt interpretation of Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes” became one of his best-loved recordings and introduced his voice to an even wider audience.
One thing that makes Jeffrey Gaines so compelling is what happens when the lights go down and the room gets quiet. His songs feel immediate and unguarded, his interpretations make familiar music feel newly discovered, and his voice has the kind of range and emotional force that can fill a room without ever overwhelming the song.
That makes Caffè Lena an especially fitting place to hear him. We look forward to seeing you there.
