An hour of live jazz in the middle of the day. Saxophonist Owen Pirch brings a working band to the Blue Room for Jazz @ Noon — free and open to everyone.
Pirch is one of the young players making his way on Kansas City's jazz scene, a saxophonist with a deep appetite for the hard-bop tradition and the energy to match it. Blue Room regulars know him from the Monday Night Jam, where he has led the featured set and pushed the room with Freddie Hubbard-style burners.
For the noon show, that same fire meets a room built for listening: tunes from the hard-bop songbook, a rhythm section keeping pace, and a musician who plays like he has something to prove. Bring a friend, or just bring your ears.
