Odd Pocket is an exciting and vibrant instrumental quintet that blends influences from a wide range of genres into a colorful musical cocktail. The band consists of young, award-winning jazz musicians and performs exploratory original compositions by drummer and bandleader Jens Emil Jensen. Audiences can experience a flourishing take on a modern jazz sound, where the shimmering tones of the vibraphone merge with a whirlwind of horn instruments, electric guitar, and pulsating grooves from drums and bass. The music is characterized by quirky rhythms, beautiful melodies, and playful improvisations — all delivered through a dynamic and deeply connected interplay, combined with an outgoing approach that invites all curious listeners into Odd Pocket’s whimsical sonic universe.
The five fast-rising musicians of Odd Pocket have already made their mark individually on both the Danish and international jazz scene, including achievements such as Album of the Week on P8 Jazz, North Jutland Jazz Artist of the Year 2023, Aarhus Jazz Talent 2022, live performances on DR TV and a sold-out concert at the Elbphilharmonie Grand Hall.
Back in 2020, Odd Pocket released their debut EP How Time Floats to great acclaim. For this concert, the band presents a mix of “old favorites” and exciting new material they have been developing recently.
