FRANK/SCHMITZ/LANDORS Plays Monk
Wednesday 2nd of December, Jazz9tus and El Mundo welcome Frank/Schmitz/Landors for an evening exploring the music of Thelonious Monk.
With his distinctive melodies, offbeat rhythms and unexpected harmonies as their starting point, the trio brings a personal approach to the compositions of Monk. Their interpretations leave room for improvisation while keeping the character and humour of the originals close at hand.
Monk’s music balances simplicity and complexity in ways that still surprise. Expect familiar themes, new directions and the spontaneous interplay of guitar, bass and drums.
Line-up
Christian Frank · guitar
Andreas Schmitz · bass
Carsten Landors · drums
