Featuring Vicki Harnett with Jazz East Big Band. Directed by Bill Brennan.
Have a Classy Halloween! Join us at Spirit of Newfoundland's Theatre Gower for a night of costumes, cocktails, and and dancing to live big band playing some of the best swing and old-school dance tunes of all time.
Jazz East Big Band is a traditional 19-piece jazz orchestra directed by Bill Brennan that's been Swingin' in St. John's since 1997, with a band full of incredible players like Dameian Walsh, Terry Campbell, Jenn Hanley, and Natasha Blackwood. Tonight's performance will include special guest vocals by local powerhouse Vicki Harnett.
About Vicki Harnett
"No stranger to Newfoundland musical theatre audiences, Vicki was last seen in the Gander production of Come From Away. Prior to that, she happily hung her hat on the Artistic Fraud/Sean Panting “Man Of The Year” costume rack. Vicki and Bill Brennan have also been known to spend a scattered Friday night down at Slainte playing a jazzy jam or two. “It Don’t Mean A Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing)” has been been a favourite Ellington tune of hers ever since she saw the movie “Swing Kids” back in 1993 (she’ll let you do the math on that one), so it’s a treat to hear his music come to life through this incredible ensemble of musicians."
