Walk you way into Wednesday with 30 minutes of purposeful walking, fresh air and a bit of company.
About this Event

30 minutes before work. Wednesday Mornings. 7.30am

Oxleas Woodlands

Japanese Walking is a simple interval walking technique: 3 minutes of brisk walking followed by 3 minutes at a comfortable pace, repeated throughout the session.

We'll cover around 3km on a crcular route through and around Oxleas Woods, starting at 7.30am and finishing at 8am.

It is designed to fit into your morning before work, rather than take over your day.

What to expect

We'll meet at different starting points around Oxleas Woods from week to week. Your exact meeting point will be sent to you when you book.

At the start I will briefly explain the walking pattern and then we set off together.

We'll alternate:

3 minutes comfortable walking
3 minutes brisk / purposeful walking

The brisk sections should feel like you're walking with purpose, rather than running. You should be breathing a little harder but still able to continue safely.

We'll repeat the intervals throughout the approximately 3 km route. Five times each in the 30 minute session.

There will be no long stops, please arrive ready to walk at 7:30am.

Who is it for?

This is aimed at people working from home in the Eltham area. But is suitable for anyone who would like to start their Wednesday with a short burst of outdoor exercise.

You don't need to be an experienced walker or particularly fit, but you should be comfortable walking approximately 3km at a mixture of comfotable and brisk paces.

This isn't a race and nobody is expected to compete with anyone else. The aim is to walk together, get moving and start the day feeling energised.

Why Wednesday Morning?

Because we are halfway through the week and half an hour seems a manageable way to get us up and over that mid-week hump.

You can get outside, move your body, breathe some fresh air and still be ready to work afterwards.

There are no complicated moves, no gym membership, and no lycra required.

Just walking.

Cost

Pay what you can afford.

There is a suggested contribution of £3 - £5, but please pay whatever feels affordable to you. If you can't afford anything, you're still welcome.

Your contribution helps cover the time involved in organising and leading the walks, as well as my training and insurance costs.
