Experience the beauty of Japanese calligraphy through a seasonal workshop inspired by Kakigōri — Japanese shaved ice, one of Japan’s most beloved desserts during the summer.
More than just a dessert, Kakigōri is a symbol of the Japanese summer. For centuries, it has brought people together at summer festivals, temple fairs, and family gatherings, offering a refreshing escape from the heat. The sound of shaved ice, colourful syrups, and the iconic 「氷」 (Ice) flag instantly evoke nostalgic memories for many Japanese people.
In this special workshop, you'll discover the cultural meaning behind Kakigōri while creating your own shave ice themed Japanese calligraphy artwork using traditional brushes and ink and enjoy a Japanese dessert — Kakigōri (shaved ice) in a specially designed cup or ice Daifuku and a complementary drink during the workshop. Participants will also receive an exclusive 25% discount on the entire Sushiya menu after the workshop.
Whether you are a complete beginner or have previous experience with calligraphy, this workshop is designed to be relaxing, creative, and enjoyable for everyone.

Workshop Flow
- Ice breaking, introduction to the theme and order a free drink (10–15 mins)
- Grinding ink to calm the mind and prepare for calligraphy practice (10 mins)
- Introduction to brush handling & basic writing techniques (5 mins)
- Practice session (30 mins)
- Short break (5 mins)
- Create your final artwork on official calligraphy paper (20 mins)
- Enjoy dessert, take photos, post social media and write a review (30 mins)
