Japanese Calligraphy Social Club ST BRIDE'S CENTER

This is more than just a calligraphy class. It is a chance to slow down, meet people from your local community, discover Japanese culture, and enjoy a creative activity together.

You don't need any previous experience — complete beginners are very welcome!

During the 90-minute session, you will:

• Learn the basics of Japanese calligraphy
• Discover the meaning and background of Japanese characters
• Practise using a traditional Japanese brush
• Create your own calligraphy artwork
• Learn a few simple Japanese words and expressions
• Chat and connect with other participants
• Enjoy a relaxed and creative community atmosphere

At the end of the session, you can take your own artwork home.

This workshop is open to everyone, especially:

• Local residents
• Older adults
• Beginners
• People interested in Japanese culture
• Anyone looking for a relaxed and creative social activity

No Japanese language or calligraphy experience is required.

Nothing — all calligraphy materials are provided.

Please wear something you don't mind getting a little ink on, just in case.

Places are limited to 8 participants, so advance booking is required.

Wayfarer Shodo Edinburgh is a creative project introducing Japanese calligraphy and culture to people in Scotland.

Our aim is to create opportunities for people to discover Japanese culture through calligraphy, creativity and community.

Come along, pick up a brush, and enjoy a relaxed morning of Japanese culture.

Learn something new. Create something beautiful. Meet someone new.

• Please arrive 10–15 minutes before the workshop starts.
• Comfortable clothing is recommended as ink may stain.
