The January Blues Festival celebrates it's 10th anniversary year with the welcome return of Band of Friends with original Rory Gallagher bassist Gerry McAvoy and friends performing the music of Rory Gallagher.
Irish Blues-Rock guitarist, songwriter Rory Gallagher started out in R&B power trio Taste in 1966. Taste supported Cream and Blind Faith before splitting in 1970 after their appearance at the Isle of Wight Festival. Rory Gallagher starting touring under his own name alongside bassist Gerry McAvoy to huge success before Rory's untimely passing in 1995.
Inspired by Canned Heat and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band and named after the 60's Doctor Ross blues tune, BLUES 'N' TROUBLE were formed in the early 1980s by Tim Elliott (harmonica/vocals) and John Bruce (guitar). After the their acclaimed debut LP 'First Trouble' (1985), BLUES 'N' TROUBLE went on to become one of the hardest working blues bands on the scene. They shared stages with B.B. King, Robert Cray, Junior Wells, Buddy Guy, Pinetop Perkins, Charlie Musselwhite and recorded with Lazy Lester.
Host and DJ for the January Blues Festival is Snowboy playing original blues 45's and more.
