Jane is an old friend of ESAS, she will be presenting her new talk The Wondrous Webb. From its vantage point more than a million miles from Earth, and using a massive sunshield to block the light of our star, NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope has delivered the deepest, sharpest and most stunningly beautiful infrared images of the universe that the world has ever seen. Dazzling everyone around the globe, it has captured the very faint light of the first stars and galaxies that formed more than 13.5 billion years ago, and much more besides. In this 45-minute talk Jane will share a revelatory insight into this wondrous telescope as well as a selection of the awesome cosmic phenomena it has so far imaged.
