About this Event
Janae is a songstress, storyteller, creature of the Earth, and ceremonialist weaving music, womb wisdom, and embodied expression into an intimate exploration of the human experience. Her work is rooted in a deep relationship with the living world: the land beneath her feet, the changing seasons, the plants and creatures with whom we share this Earth, and the elemental forces that shape all life.
Through her relationship with Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Ether, Janae explores the ways we are nourished, moved, transformed, connected, and held within the vastness of existence. The land is not simply a backdrop to her spiritual practice, but a teacher and living relationship: one that invites reverence, reciprocity, listening, and responsibility. From the quiet intelligence of mycelium and the cycles of decomposition to the resilience of roots and the wisdom of the changing seasons, she finds meaning in the continual movement between life, death, and renewal.
Drawing from yogic philosophy, Nada Yoga, the yoga of sound ~ and her exploration of the energetic subtle body, Janae is fascinated by the ways vibration, breath, voice, and movement shape our experience of connection. Her relationship with the womb, sexuality, creativity, and the wisdom of the body informs a ceremonial practice that honors the body as a place of memory, expression, transformation, and belonging.
Her work explores the meeting places between the seen and unseen, the physical and energetic, the earthly and sacred. Through music, ceremony, and storytelling, she invites us to listen beyond the surface ~ to the resonance within ourselves, one another, and the living world.
In “An Altar of Sound”, music becomes an offering and the stage becomes sacred ground. Through an evening of song and reflection, Janae invites audiences into a shared experience, one that honors the many ways we pray, remember, grieve, love, transform, and find our way back to ourselves.
A gathering of sound, Spirit, land, and connection, offered in reciprocity with Root Center for Yoga and Sacred Studies.
