The relaxed, welcoming taster session introduces both the traditional Jamaican Quadrille Dance followed by contemporary Jamaican style Maypole Dance in a gentle, accessible way with no previous experience required.

Participants will learn simple steps, patterns and rhythms while moving to uplifting music, focusing on coordination, balance and shared enjoyment rather than perfection.

The aim is to promote our Jamaican cultural heritage and traditions. It is also an opportunity to learn the history behind the dance and promote a positive image of our culture as well as how our ancestors used Quadrille to triumph over oppression.

The taster session encourages light physical activity, mental stimulation and social connection, making it ideal for beginners or those returning to movement after a break.

Come along to rediscover the pleasure of moving together in a supportive, friendly environment.

Comfortable clothing and flat footwear is recommended.
