Izaak Opatz:
Izaak Opatz’s music has always been about longing, run through with nostalgia for the passed-by and out-of-reach. His first two albums, Mariachi Static and Extra Medium, were propelled by a longing for specific people and places, made relatable by wry humor, thoughtful simile and close observation.
More recently, he’s been writing songs that long for an alternative reality, for different possibilities than the short, doomed menu offered by our tech lords and the current kakistocracy failing to regulate them. Songs that push back against the coercive pressure to indulge in small conveniences at the expense of personal privacy, a 20th-century attention span and the steady drip of a monthly subscription:
I spend a lot of my time now, jumping through hoops / asking permission from a little screen convincing a robot that I’m not a robot / this future isn’t all it was cracked up to be.
Lucas Benoit:
A Portland local musician, open mic host, talent buyer, and songwriter. Oregon born and raised all over, Lucas finds peace in community, family, and strumming guitars.
Weezy Ford:
Weezy Ford is a musician and songwriter who lives in the Columbia River Gorge. Her first musical endeavors incorporated slide guitar, vintage feels, garage-rock fuzz, and tap dancing on her EP Bobbypin Graveyard. She got tired of carrying around a box to dance on, and began writing songs on a tiny synthesizer that would eventually become her first full-length record titled Sugarcane in 2019. She collaborates with her partner, Mark Robertson (multi-instrumentalist, engineer) in their homestead studio where they mostly grow vegetables. None of the knobs are labeled. During the pandemic they recorded a handful of acoustic songs onto tape released as all at once. She started a twangy side project with her sister, Sallie Ford, called The Barbaras and recorded Oh My God Barbara in 2020 on Orcas Island, WA. Her latest full-length album “In the Movement” was released in 2024.
