Ava Carpenter is a respected leader, mentor, and advocate with nearly three decades of experience serving youth, families, and communities throughout Illinois. She currently serves as an Individual Program Coordinator at the Sangamon County Juvenile Detention Center, where she develops innovative programming focused on leadership development, life skills, education, and positive behavior change for justice-involved youth.
Ava's passion for mentorship extends far beyond her professional role. Throughout her career, she has dedicated herself to helping women and young people recognize their potential, navigate career transitions, and build confidence through authentic leadership and meaningful relationships. She believes that every generation has something valuable to teach and something important to learn.
An active community leader, Ava serves in leadership roles with numerous civic and professional organizations and is committed to creating opportunities that empower others to succeed. Her work has been recognized through several honors, including being the recipient of the prestigious ATHENA Leadership Award, celebrating women who lead with excellence, give back to their communities, and help other women achieve their full potential.
