In It’s a Wonderful Life, Jimmy Stewart portrays the down-and-out George Bailey, a lovable “failure” with so many problems that he is thinking about ending it all – and it’s Christmas! Clarence, his guardian angel, shows George what his town would be like if it hadn’t been for all of his good deeds. In one of the most iconic holiday films ever made, the spirit of the season rings through each of the iconic performances – including Tiomkin’s poignant score. Nominated for five Academy Awards®, including Best Picture, It’s a Wonderful Life has been recognized by the American Film Institute as one of the 100 best American films ever made.
