A honeypot is only useful if attackers believe it's real. Matthew Sparrow explores how a conventional OpenCanary deployment evolved into seven individually crafted sensors designed to look like distinct, legitimate systems.
Learn how unique SSH fingerprints, service banners, web interfaces, domains, DNS, and business personas can make honeypots harder to identify and more effective for threat intelligence and detection.
Speaker:
Matthew Sparrow has 20 years of hands-on IT experience, including 14 years in U.S. military Cyber Threat Intelligence and five years in offensive security, ethical hacking, and penetration testing. He holds multiple CompTIA, EC-Council, and GIAC/SANS certifications and has more than 20 accredited CVEs. His work focuses on turning threat intelligence into practical security outcomes.
