Islamic Art Week 2026: Leicester Watch Party & Creative Workshops
A morning of Islamic art, creativity, learning and community at the beautiful Beaumont Hall, Botanic Gardens, Leicester.
Takhleeq is delighted to be collaborating with Islamic Art Week 2026, a global celebration bringing together artists, makers, scholars and art enthusiasts from around the world for seven days of artistic exploration.
For one special morning, we are bringing the experience to Leicester with an intimate Islamic Art Week Watch Party, where we will come together to watch and participate in three live sessions from the global programme.
Whether you are an artist, maker, art lover, student, or simply curious about Islamic art, you are warmly invited to join us.
✨ What you'll experience
Throughout the morning, we'll watch three live sessions exploring different aspects of Islamic art, architecture, symbolism and geometry.
🕌 10:15am | Sketching 5 Domes from Islamic Architecture
Join Ahmed Faruk as he sketches five iconic domes and shares the cultural significance and architectural features that make each structure unique.
🌿 11:30am | Symbolism of Cypress Trees and Blossoms
Alfiya Abbas Ali explores the rich symbolism of cypress trees, blossoms and gold. Following the presentation, you'll be guided through a practical demonstration showing how to apply gold to a pre-drawn cypress design.
✨ 12:45pm | Analysing an Islamic Geometric Pattern from Tubat Khatun
Tasneem Afaneh will guide us through creating a geometric pattern inspired by the Turkan Khatun Museum in the Old City of Jerusalem.

No previous artistic experience is required, and all materials are provided.

Taking place 14–20 November 2026, Islamic Art Week is a global celebration presented by the Global Centre of Islamic Art.
