"Ishna ‘Slí Amach’: from There to Here" invites you into a journey across distance, memory, and belonging. Join Ishna at the Maine Irish Heritage Center for an afternoon of story, song, and reflection on the paths that carry us from our homelands to new shores. 🎶Ishna is a Boston-based contemporary Irish folk band. While the group has been together for more than a decade, they released their debut album, "Slí Amach: Way Out" earlier in 2026.
Rooted deeply in the traditional acoustic music of Ireland, "Slí Amach: Way Out" weaves an intricate global tapestry. The album layers traditional Irish instrumentation like fiddle, Irish flute, uilleann pipes, accordion, and bodhrán with unexpected Mediterranean textures like the chitarra battente and riq—incorporating each member's unique musical vocabulary into a singular, unified sound. The recording is currently on the official GRAMMY® ballot for this year's "Best Global Music Album".
