ISAIAH COLLIER PLAYS COLTRANE | TALK & LIVE CONCERT100 years of John Coltrane. One night dedicated to his legacy.
On Saturday 21 November, saxophonist Isaiah Collier brings Collier Plays Coltrane to BIRD Rotterdam. An evening celebrating one of jazz’s greatest innovators through conversation, improvisation and live music.
Hailed as “The Next Sax Giant” by DownBeat Magazine, Chicago-born Isaiah Collier is one of the most exciting voices in contemporary jazz. His acclaimed album Cosmic Transitions, recorded at the legendary Rudy Van Gelder Studio, earned a five-star DownBeat review and draws inspiration from Coltrane’s musical and spiritual legacy.
Before taking the stage, Collier joins Andrew Makkinga, renowned interviewer at North Sea Jazz Festival, for an intimate conversation about John Coltrane’s influence on jazz, music and culture.
Then, it's time for the music. Expect fearless improvisation, raw energy and a powerful tribute to a jazz legend.
