About this Event
You're invited to the first iPATH Community Connector, a free event hosted by the ) initiative at the University of Calgary and the Hotchkiss Brain Institute.
Please note this event occurs at 1:00 - 4:30 p.m. MDT.
What is iPATH?
iPATH brings together researchers, community organizations, service providers, people with lived and living experience, and health system partners to support research and collaboration that improves addiction, substance use, and recovery services. A key goal of iPATH is to ensure that research is informed by our community and translated into real-world impact.
Why Attend?
The Community Connector is designed to create opportunities for people with experience in addiction, substance use, harm reduction, mental health, and recovery support to connect and explore collaborative solutions to shared challenges.
You do not need experience with research or with community research partnerships to attend. This event is intended to be practical, open, and focused on building relationships across different groups.
What to Expect
- Short presentations with examples of community-focused research partnerships
- Opportunities to meet researchers, service providers, people with lived and living experience, and community leaders with shared interests
- Discussions about community priorities, challenges, and opportunities
- Networking time to explore future collaborations and partnerships, with light refreshments provided
The event is free to attend (registration required), and the venue fully accessible.
Call for Presenters
We are looking for presenters for brief 7 to 10-minute presentations showcasing potential or ongoing partnerships between researchers, community partners, and people with lived and living experience related to addiction and recovery.
If this interests you, please answer the post-checkout questions.
We especially welcome presentations that can be delivered jointly by researchers and community partners or people with lived and living experience.
However, presentation topics submitted by either partner on behalf of a collaborative project are also welcome, and we encourage submissions at all stages of partnership development.
Please share your presentation idea with us by Monday, November 2.
We will contact you by Monday, November 9 if we are able to include your presentation in our program.
