About this Event
In this entry-level workshop, participants will learn the methods of marbled paper production from start to finish. The instructor will teach DIY tool-making, foundational recipes and techniques involved in the marbling process. By the end of the afternoon, each participant will have created several sheets of beautiful hand-marbled paper. If you would like to bring your own paper, please do! About Sarah (this is one of my longer bios; feel free to choose whatever you want from it, if you do want to use a bio at all!)
Sarah Plummer is a collaborative printer, writer, and maker, lately of Australia and more recently of California. She is captivated by the alchemic expanse of lithography and loves things that seem impossible. Raised on Bidjigal and Dharawal lands and waters, she moved to the USA to pursue printmaking. Since then, she has worked on fine-art prints at (Hinsdale, NH), (Albuquerque, NM), (Los Angeles, CA), (Austin, TX), (Brisbane, Australia), (CTUIR, Oregon), (Los Angeles, CA) and for the (New York, NY). Since 2022 Sarah has operated Speck Editions on unceded Tongva/Gabrielino land—in Los Angeles.
Sarah’s own work—print and otherwise—leads an investigation into land, memory, material, grief, love, and freedom. She also serves as a consultant for the (C.R.A.F.T.), located on the sacred lands of the Hupačasath First Nation at Ahswinnis Reserve (Port Alberni, British Columbia) in the research and creation of Naaqʔiisamis N̓ism̓aqał, A Respectful Map of Our Land.
