Stepping Up! 18 weeks of Creativity, Problem-solving & Architectural Exploration!
About this Event

Designed as the next step for students who have completed our four terms of Introduction to Design + Architecture 1, this term takes avid creative explorers on an inspiring 18-week (Term 1 & 2) journey into the world of architecture. Students will learn to think critically about space, function, stability, and materials through hands-on building, engaging design challenges, and tonnes of creative fun.

Term 1: Exploring Architecture through Geometry, Form, Frame & Structure (Weeks 1–9)

In this nine-week term, students dive deeper into architectural design fundamentals. They will discover how geometry and form shape the spaces around us, and learn about the essential building elements, components, and structural systems that make architecture possible. Through guided design challenges and model-making activities, students will experiment with real architectural concepts while strengthening their spatial awareness, problem-solving abilities, and design thinking skills.

Term 2: Imagining Homes of the Future (Weeks 10–18)

In Term 2, the adventure continues with nine exciting lessons that deepen the concepts learned in Term 1 while introducing bold new design challenges. Students will embark on a creative exploration of Homes of the Future, imagining how and where people might live in the years to come.

From designing homes on Mars to conceptualising underwater habitats and airborne dwellings, students will stretch their imagination and develop the mindset of architects and innovators. Through hands-on model-making, they will bring their futuristic home concepts to life while discovering how creativity, technology, and design shape the way we may live tomorrow.

Week 17 focuses on presentation and communication skills, guiding students to craft a clear and professional showcase of the ideas and models they have developed across the term.
Week 18 culminates in an open showing, where parents are invited to view and celebrate their child's learning journey, creativity, and accomplishments.

Additionally, this program also equips children with skills highly valued for Direct School Admission (DSA). Students will develop a portfolio of tangible works such as models, sketches, and presentations, which are ideal for showcasing creativity during interviews. By blending science, engineering, math, art, and architecture, they build interdisciplinary skills that stand out, especially as architecture is a less common focus at the primary level. The teamwork, problem-solving, and communication experiences gained here also prepare students for group discussions, helping them shine in DSA applications and beyond.

DesignTinkers camps are specially curated and led by instructors who are educators, architects and designers with the passion and experience of working with young children to nurture their creative interests. Camps are held in our spacious and conducive classroom for kids to create and explore freely under guidance.

Parent Testimonial:

"Our child eagerly anticipates his weekly lessons and it is heartening to see him share his creative processes and proudly present his creations at home. His enthusiasm is a direct result of his teacher's exceptional ability to scaffold his learning and bring his imagination to life. DesignTinkers relentlessly fosters a supportive and stimulating environment that has empowered our child to explore his creativity confidently. We are grateful for their dedication and personalized attention that have significantly contributed to his development and interest towards architecture."
