Reduction printing is a type of multicolor block printing where the artist carves a layer, prints it, and then goes back to the same block, carves more away, and prints again in a new color.
The end result is a multicolored image, and the printing block gets destroyed in the process as the artist carves it away. It is an economical way to get a multicolored print from one block and is a really satisfying brain stretch!
Learn how to think through the layers, carving techniques, and press set up and use in this intro class. Attendees will leave with a 3 layer linocut reduction print. No previous printmaking experience required.
This class is taught by AAC studio member and printmaker Genevieve Gislason.
This class is held at the Art Barn at our Field Campus at 45 Hawthorne Lane. Directions and parking information will be included in your confirmation email.
Schedule: 4 Saturdays in October: 10/3, 10/10, 10/17, and 10/24 from 12-3pm.
Registration: Please register early if you are able, as it helps us to assure that classes meet their minimums in order to run! If you register more than three weeks before this class begins, a 20% early bird discount will automatically be applied to your ticket at checkout.
