About this Event
In visions of our lives now and in the future, we hope for and create the room to be ourselves with one another, however we choose to. The capacity to clothe ourselves and our communities, offers us a new form of care and self-determination.
In this spirit, Sonemani and Appuni will be traveling to one of Sonemani's ancestral homelands, Laos, to learn traditional Lao weaving! In order to raise the funds towards this residency, we will be offering a limited set of sewing classes <3
Join us for the first time at Waveform Ceramics for an adult beginners sewing class, no prior experience required. In this 2 hour class, you’ll learn basics of machine sewing and item construction. All students will walk away with their very first sewing project! Materials are provided, and sewing machines are available if students don't have one. Students are encouraged to bring machines if they do, including contacting Appuni if any repairs are needed ahead of time!
This course will use all donated and recycled materials, offering us the opportunity to create new life from what we already have. With the intention of gentle and attentive instruction, all classes are capped at 6 students.
All participants are required to mask the entirety of the class. We consider COVID safety our priority, and require all students to wear high filtration masks through the entirety of the class. Masks are provided, if you don't have them! We run an air purifier as well.
