About this Event
Instructor - Eli West
Eli is a visual artist and metalsmith. He enjoys forming sheet metal into functional objects, casting with bronze, making small sculptures, and exploring patinas and textures on metal. He has a keen interest in geography and biology and tries to highlight concepts from both disciplines in his art.
Class Description
Students will learn how to saw (optional), file, texture and anneal sheet copper with ball pein hammers. They’ll gain an understanding of forming techniques using wooden and steel dapping blocks, and how to polish and finish their bowls. Everyone will work to make 1-2 small copper bowls, perfect for rings, keys, incense or pure decoration! No previous metal working experience is required.
