Join us at the 2026 Bridge Conference, themed "The Art of Being Water," for a vital training session on Internet Safety and the Warning Signs of Online Grooming. This session is designed to empower caregivers, educators, and professionals with the knowledge needed to protect youth in digital spaces.Meet the Speaker:
The session is led by Nathan LaChine, founder of Evergreen Caregiver Support.
Nathan is a recognized expert in internet safety and a third-generation foster parent with over 20 years of experience providing therapeutic care to vulnerable youth. He is also the author of the *Internet Safety Workbook for Tweens with Olivia and Friends*.
Why This Training is Critical:
Teen social media usage is drastically increasing, meaning adolescents are more exposed to hidden digital risks.
Participants will learn about Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) and how perpetrators use the internet to target and exploit minors.
The training will define and explore the realities of sextortion, a crime where predators trick youth into providing explicit images and use threats or coercion to demand money or more images.
Predators frequently use crowdsourcing and popular social media apps to build fake friendships, isolate youth from their families, and exert control.
What You Will Take Away:
Tools to recognize the warning signs of online grooming, such as sudden isolation, emotional blackmail, or receiving gifts from strangers online.
Knowledge on how to shift from harmful language to trauma-informed, accurate language that supports victims.
Actionable steps for prevention, including how to talk to youth from a place of compassion and check in with them regularly without placing blame.
Vital resources on how to seek help and make reports to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline if you spot warning signs.
