The International Relations Research Club at the University of Białystok invites students, doctoral candidates, and young researchers to participate in a conference dedicated to analyzing the mechanisms of soft power in contemporary international relations.
The dynamics of contemporary international relations are not based solely on military potential and direct economic coercion. In an era of global geopolitical shifts, rapid technological advancement, and widespread information warfare, a state’s ability to shape the attitudes, narratives, and preferences of other international actors has become a key weapon. Non-military instruments of foreign policy are increasingly defining the boundaries of real spheres of influence.
Cultural appeal, ideological values, effective public diplomacy, and consistent national branding enable the building of an international position in a planned and long-term manner. Contemporary great powers and regional players are turning to sophisticated mechanisms of persuasion and digital diplomacy to achieve tangible, concrete political gains without the need for direct use of force.
The conference provides a forum for interdisciplinary analysis of these processes from the perspectives of international relations theory, media studies, security studies, and cultural studies. The event aims to create a platform for debate and the exchange of scholarly insights on the following questions: To what extent do ideological and cultural appeal shape the contemporary international order, and how do states build their influence amid growing global competition?

Koło Naukowe Stosunków Międzynarodowych Uniwersytetu w Białymstoku zaprasza studentów, doktorantów oraz młodych badaczy do udziału w konferencji poświęconej analizie mechanizmów soft power we współczesnych stosunkach międzynarodowych.
