About this Event
Action is spreading across Europe. Belgian students have followed French students into the streets over the state of their schools and universities. Housing protests in Spain have sparked a political crisis and inspired similar action in Portugal. More and more people are recognising the connection between cuts to public services and the huge increases in military spending now being pursued by governments across Europe, on a scale not seen since the Cold War.
On 30 October, dockworkers across fifty European ports are preparing an international 'Ports for Peace' action against the arming of Israel. On Friday 20 November, students are organising a global day of action against war, militarism and conscription.
These struggles show the potential for everyday people to unite across borders against policies that put military power and corporate interests before human needs.
The Europe in Revolt: International Anti-War Tour is bringing this message to towns and cities across Britain, following June's international anti-war conference in London, attended by 3,000 activists and trade unionists from over thirty countries.
Come and hear directly from those organising on the ground. Take part in the discussion about how we can unite anti-war campaigners, students, trade unionists and communities to build a strong Welfare Not Warfare movement in Wales and Britain.
Speakers include:
A student organiser from France
Clare Daly, former Irish Member of the European Parliament
Lindsey German, Stop the War Coalition
Sabrin Hasbun Prize winning Palestinian-Italian writer will chair our event
More speakers to be announced, including Welsh organisers and trade unionists
