About this Event
Parenting Skills Series
Practical tools. Stronger connection. More confident parenting.
Parenting can be rewarding, but let’s be honest—it can also be HARD. From managing big emotions and challenging behaviors to setting boundaries and staying connected, every parent needs support sometimes.
The Parenting Skills Series is a supportive, judgment-free space designed to help parents build practical skills they can use at home right away.
This 12-week series is based on the Chicago Parent Program (CPP), an evidence-based parenting program designed to help parents strengthen their relationships with their children, better understand behavior, and develop effective strategies for managing everyday parenting challenges.
A 12-Week Experience
This isn't a one-time parenting workshop. The series runs for 12 weeks, with each session lasting 2 hours.
Sessions begin in December and meet every Thursday, concluding in March. Sessions will pause during the holiday weeks, so families have an opportunity to enjoy the holidays without the added commitment.
The weekly format is intentional. Each session gives you the opportunity to:
Learn → Practice → Reflect → Return → Grow
You'll learn new parenting strategies during each session, have time between sessions to practice them at home, and return the following week with questions, successes, challenges, and real-life experiences to discuss.
Because parenting doesn't happen in a classroom—the goal is to help you take what you learn and make it work in your everyday life.
What You Can Expect
Throughout the series, parents will:
- Learn practical strategies for managing challenging behaviors
- Explore ways to strengthen the parent-child relationship
- Learn how to set effective limits and boundaries
- Practice strategies for responding to children's emotions and behaviors
- Gain tools for encouraging positive behaviors
- Learn how to reduce power struggles and increase cooperation
- Have time to practice new skills between sessions
- Return with questions and receive support applying strategies at home
- Connect with other parents who understand the realities of parenting
- Build confidence through repetition, reflection, and practice
This Series Is For You If…
You find yourself saying:
"Why does my child keep doing this?"
"I feel like I'm constantly repeating myself."
"I want to set boundaries without constantly arguing."
"I want to respond differently, but I'm not always sure how."
"I just need some new strategies!"
You don't have to be a "perfect" parent. This series is about building skills, increasing confidence, and finding strategies that work for your family.
What Makes This Different?
This isn't about being judged for your parenting or being told what you're "doing wrong."
It's about learning, practicing, reflecting, and finding realistic strategies that fit your family.
Come as you are. Bring your questions. Practice what you learn. Come back and grow with us.
