Amy Frey’s new play follows Samuel Treadwell Pell (1755–1786), a newly minted captain of the Continental Army, who cannot wait to get home to Pelham to see his fiancée (and cousin), Mary. However, when Mary’s family hosts British officers for dinner, she and Samuel have to decide if their future marriage can withstand a political divide. Frey examines the impact of bipartisan politics on family dynamics during the birth of the United States of America.
Performed and produced by Red Monkey Theater Group.
Before the play, there will be a short discussion about these historical figures and some events that unfolded at Pell’s Point in October 1776.
Cost Adults: $40; Senior/Student/Bartow-Pell Member: $35
