Explore the beauty, structure and creative possibilities of trees in this playful mixed media workshop. Taking inspiration from nature — bark textures, branching forms, seasonal colour — as well as artists who have reimagined trees in striking ways, including Gustav Klimt, David Hockney, Egon Schiele and more, you’ll experiment with a playful mix of media and techniques.Across the session you’ll work with ink and bleach, wax resist, intuitive drawing, unusual painting methods, stencils and (for those that want to) free machine embroidery, discovering how these processes can be layered to create rich, organic surfaces.
No experience is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to explore. A sewing machine is required, though spares can be arranged with prior notice. All materials are provided, and you’re welcome to bring images, threads or fabric scraps if you’d like to personalise your piece.
Delny is a Shropshire based mixed media textile artist and teacher. Her work is inspired by nature and her surroundings – particularly the Shropshire landscape.
