Our season opener, “Inspiration Becomes Influence,” explores how musical ideas are passed from one generation to the next. Hummel’s Trumpet Concerto in E-flat Major, inspired by his mentor Haydn, will feature NVSO principal trumpet Dr. Leah Hodge. The concert also includes Brahms’ lively Academic Festival Overture and Britten’s Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, a fascinating musical journey through the many sections and sounds of the orchestra.
