About this Event
With October coming, we have the pleasure to announce the third edition of our Insider Sessions ;)
The Insider Sessions is a one-of-a-kind educational event, a kind of TED-talk oriented towards media professionals. It’s a learning tool that is based on unique, out-of-the-box insights of a professional. It’s not an ordinary lecture - it tackles quirky or pesky themes that will blossom into practical tips or unique insights. It’s meant to be highly engaging, with lots of inspiration to improve a media professional’s career.
Come and enjoy two educational lectures that will delve upon interesting themes: sustainable filmmaking and post production workflow and procedures.
There will be plenty of opportunities for networking in-between the presentations.
Light refreshments will be offered.
Our event has support from .

Cultivating a Grassroots Audience: How We Lend a Hand Became an Indie Hit
By Colin Field
London-based documentary filmmaker Colin Field had only recently graduated from Fanshawe college when he decided to take on a daunting task: telling the largely forgotten story of the Ontario Farmerettes, the 40,000 young Canadian women who worked the land and helped provide the food that sustained the Allied war effort during the Second World War.
We Lend a Hand: The Forgotten Story of Ontario Farmerettes has been selected for 30 film festivals and has received 16 awards and honours. It has also been screened more than 200 times in over 150 communities across Canada, reaching more than 20,000 people through dozens of sold-out events.
But that success came with its fair share of sweat, tears, and stumbles along the way.
Discover the lessons Colin learned about sustainable independent filmmaking as he shares how he crowdfunded the project, built a grassroots marketing machine, and developed an independent screening and events business. Learn how these efforts are helping to power his next documentary project.
Presentation 2:
Nightmare on Edit Street: Preventing the Ultimate Data Massacre
By Adam Hunt
This Halloween-themed Insider Sessions special will touch on our industry-specific trauma and scare of "Media Offline" 🦇👻 Whoever is working in this field for long, either in production - or specially post - knows some horror story of someone losing film data because of a workflow error or a production mistake. Well, veteran Digital Imaging Technician (DIT) Adam Hunt has seen it all. From crashed drives to badly mismanaged data, he’s been consistently working on a myriad of workflows, small and large, trying to protect what’s most valuable at the end of the line: our precious footage. You will learn the exact and proper procedure of how your footage needs to travel - from camera to final delivery. Follow the most up-to-date professional data workflows with a section focused on DMT/DIT and why they’re a critical link between the production and post. Finally, get some tips on do’s and don’ts and also “nevers” when it comes to protecting the data of your picture.
