About this Event
Behind every investment portfolio are decisions about risk, diversification, timing and, increasingly, technology. But how do investment professionals actually make those decisions? And with AI and quantitative systems becoming more sophisticated, where does human judgement still matter?
On Tuesday, October 20, the Rotary Club of Vancouver is bringing together three professionals with very different perspectives on investing for an educational panel discussion at the Terminal City Club.
Whether you work in finance, manage your own investments, own a business or simply want to better understand how investment decisions are made, this conversation is for you.
What we'll explore
- Diversification: What does it really mean to diversify a portfolio, especially when markets increasingly move together?
- Risk management: Why does managing risk matter just as much during strong markets as it does during downturns?
- Technology and quantitative investing: How can data, algorithms and systematic strategies help investors make more disciplined decisions?
- Human judgement: What should technology handle, and where do experience, oversight and professional judgement remain essential?
- The bigger picture: How are investment professionals adapting their approaches as markets and technology evolve?
Expect different perspectives, practical insights and an opportunity to ask your own questions.
