About this Event
Join Inscape as we take listeners on a journey across landscapes, real and imagined, through four works that tell vivid stories without a single word. We open with Honegger's Pastorale d'été, a warm tone poem inspired by a summer in the Swiss Alps, capturing the quiet stillness of morning light on mountain pastures. Mozart's Fantasia in F minor, originally written for mechanical organ, follows in an arrangement for chamber ensemble. Written near the end of his life, it swings from stormy intensity to serene tenderness, often within the same breath. At the heart of the program is North Country by American composer Nathan Lincoln-DeCusatis, an evocative soundscape of open sky, dense forest, and rugged wilderness. We close with Britten's Sinfonietta, a sharp, witty early work written when the composer was just 18, a glimpse of the singular voice he'd become.
Spend an evening with us and let these four works take you somewhere new: from alpine quiet to the American wilderness, from Mozart's turbulence to Britten's bold debut.
