About this Event

Especially for those who work in healthcare, understand what death might feel like for our patients, spiritually and emotionally.

Death isn’t just a medical moment; it’s a deeply human one. And most of us have no idea how to talk about it. Whether you’re supporting a loved one who’s dying or working in healthcare, this event is for anyone who has ever thought:

  • “I don’t know what to say.”
  • “I wish I could do this better.”
  • “I just want to bring peace… not panic.”

Join seasoned palliative care nurses for an in-person afternoon of honest conversation, compassionate storytelling, and calm understanding through two powerful films and open-hearted group discussions.

This experience will help you:

  • Feel less helpless in the face of death
  • Understand what dying actually looks like
  • Normalize grief (especially outside of religion)
  • Get more comfortable with end-of-life conversations
  • Know how to “hold space” — without needing to fix anything

FILM 1: Inner World of Dying

A masterclass in holding space at the end of life. We may only witness a handful of deaths in our lives — and when we do, we often feel lost. This documentary offers the collective wisdom of nurses and clinicians who have supported thousands of people through dying. You’ll explore:

  • What death looks and feels like — physically and emotionally
  • How family dynamics shift near the end
  • Deathbed visions, spiritual moments, and messages from the dying
  • The unseen experiences many don’t talk about — but wish they had known.

🗣 Stay after the film for a reflective discussion about how we show up - as family, as caregivers, and as humans - during life’s hardest transition.

FILM 2: Grief Beyond Belief

How do we grieve when religion isn’t part of our story? Not everyone finds comfort in prayer, faith, or traditional rituals. This second film speaks directly to people grieving outside of religion — including those with spiritual trauma, diverse communities, or anyone who feels left out of the “expected” ways to mourn. We’ll close the day with a heartfelt discussion about disenfranchised grief — and how to support ourselves and others during a season when grief often intensifies.
