Inkwell Night Market: A Boozy Adult Book Fair
Southwest Louisiana's premier boozy bookish market event. The inaugural event, formerly known as Nevermore Night Market, took place in October 2025.
The year is 2026.
Books have been outlawed.
Stories are contraband.
And somewhere in Lake Charles, an underground market is still quietly moving forbidden pages after dark.
This October, Inkwell Night Market: The Banned Book Speakeasy opens its hidden door for one night only—an elusive adult book fair filled with indie authors, bookish vendors, cocktails, curious experiences, and enough dangerous literature to make the authorities deeply uncomfortable.
Get ready for a grown-up book fair with cocktails, cozy fall vibes, banned book energy, and just the right amount of bookish mischief. Browse your next favorite read, shop from local and indie creatives, sip something delicious, and mingle with fellow readers for a night of literary chaos in the best possible way.
Those brave enough to enter the literary underground will also receive a dossier for the Bootlegger Hunt. Search the market for wanted posters featuring notorious books, uncover where each title was banned or challenged, and turn in your completed evidence before you leave.
Guests who correctly solve the case will be entered to win The Literary Contraband Basket, filled with banned books, bookish goods, and other illicit little delights. The winner will be drawn Saturday and contacted to collect their haul.
Speakeasy, prohibition-era, spooky, and literary-outlaw attire is encouraged—but not required. Come dressed to smuggle books, or arrive looking completely innocent. We are sure the authorities will believe you.
Please note: Ticket prices are listed before applicable taxes and Eventbrite fees. There will be no door tickets available for VIP. A limited handful of General Admission tickets may be available at the door for $30, but door tickets will not include the ability to receive a tote bag. If you want the full experience, grab your ticket early before they disappear into the bookish void.
Whether you’re coming for the books, the cocktails, the vendors, or the grown-up Scholastic Book Fair nostalgia, this is one fall night out you’ll want on your calendar.
