Teacher Becky, a Taiwanese calligrapher, is running Ink & Stillness at Fit Café in Ernest Ullmann Park.
You'll learn how a stroke is built. Where the brush makes contact, how the pressure moves through the line, and where it lifts off. It asks for your full attention, one stroke at a time. Along the way you pick up a little of the language and culture behind each character.
Practice paper and a brush are provided for the session. The paper is water reactive, so it looks like ink and dries clean. Calligraphy kits will be on sale on the day.
