A private evening exploring how art and entrepreneurship meet through creativity, value and reinvention.
About this Event

Artists and entrepreneurs have more in common than we often realise.

Both begin with an idea. Both challenge convention. Both create something before knowing whether others will believe in it. And both ultimately face the same fundamental question:

How do you innovate without losing what makes you distinctive?

Join the INSEAD Community for the first edition of Ink & Entrepreneurship, an intimate evening bringing together art, entrepreneurship and conversation in the setting of Kwai Fung Hin Singapore.

Hosted during Li Huayi: Unity of Man and Nature, the evening will explore how creativity becomes value, how tradition can be reinvented, and how artists and entrepreneurs build belief around what they create.

Through a conversation between the worlds of art and entrepreneurship, we will examine themes such as originality, storytelling, reputation, scarcity, market creation, brand and the role of community in shaping value.

The evening is designed to bring together INSEAD alumni, current MBA students, entrepreneurs and members of the art community in Singapore. It's a setting that encourages thoughtful discussion and meaningful connections.

Expect:

  • A private introduction to the exhibition and the world of contemporary Chinese ink art
  • A conversation around the core question: How does an idea become valuable?
  • Perspectives from both art and entrepreneurship
  • Informal networking
  • An intimate gallery setting designed for conversation rather than a traditional panel

Ink & Entrepreneurship is about looking at entrepreneurship from a different perspective and discovering what founders and artists can learn from one another about creativity, conviction and value creation.

About Li Huayi

His current exhibition, Unity of Man and Nature, is his first solo exhibition in Southeast Asia and brings together more than ten milestone works spanning three decades, including ink on paper, antique gilded screens, and works using gold and silver leaf.

Agenda

🕑: 06:30 PM - 07:40 PM
Private introduction to the exhibition and artist Li Huayi
🕑: 07:45 PM - 09:00 PM
A conversation around core questions

Info: 1. Reinvention: What did you inherit from your industry, and what did you decide had to change?
2. Enduring value: What are you building for the long term that you refuse to compromise on?
3. When you started, what did you see that others did not yet see?
This connects directly to the artist’s ability to imagine value before the market validates it.
4. How do you know which conventions to respect and which ones to break?
This is the entrepreneurship equivalent of Li Huayi mastering tradition before reinventing it.
5. What makes an idea valuable before there is proof? Is it the insight, the execution, the story, the team, the timing, or the market’s belief?
6. Where did your differentiation really come from? Technology? Business model? Customer insight? Brand? Combining disciplines others kept separate?
