As part of UVA Infrastructure Month and Campus Sustainability Month, join us for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of O'Hill Dining Hall.
Did you know UVA Dine procures more than $15 million worth of food each year, with 24% sourced from local farms and businesses? With a team of 500 employees, they serve more than 16,000 meals daily across three dining halls, 29 retail locations, and Virginia Catering Company.
This unique tour will take participants beyond the dining room to explore the people, processes, and infrastructure that keep one of UVA's largest dining operations running every day. Learn how food purchasing, preparation, and distribution work together with sustainability initiatives to serve the University community.
Date & Time: Thursday, October 8, 3:00-4:00 p.m.
Location: Meet at the O'Hill Dining lobby between UVA Dine and the Cavalier Card Officeon the ground floor, 525 McCormick Rd.
Capacity: Limited to 30 participants
Food Safety Requirements
To participate in this tour, guests must follow food safety protocols:
- Closed-toe, flat shoes are required (no sandals, flip-flops, or high heels).
- Tennis shoes are recommended.
- Shoe coverings and hairnets will be provided.
This event is free and open to students, staff, faculty and the wider community. Registration is required. Photos and short video clips will be taken at the event. Please tell the host if you prefer not to be included in either of these. Due to tight spaces, people in wheelchairs may need accommodations - please contact [email protected]. By registering for this event, attendees grant permision for photographs and short videos to be taken for educational purposes.
