Join Us November 7 for 2026 Shelter Build 🐱❄️❄️ Shelter build 2026!
Build Shelters. Save Lives. Have Fun! 🐾
It's time for one of our favorite volunteer events of the year — Shelterpalooza!
Join Indy Neighborhood Cats on Saturday, November 7, for a fun-filled day of building warm winter shelters for community cats across Central Indiana!
Shelterpalooza is an absolute blast! It's a chance to come together, catch up with fellow cat lovers, and make a real difference for cats who will be facing freezing temperatures this winter.
We've turned shelter building into a well-oiled machine, and whether you're a first-time volunteer or a seasoned shelter-building pro, there's a place for you!
Every shelter we build provides a community cat with a warm, dry place to escape the cold. Together, our volunteers help protect thousands of cats throughout the winter months.
📅 Event Details
Date: Saturday, November 7, 2026
Time: 10:00 AM – Approximately 2:00 PM
Meeting Location: FIDO / Indy Neighborhood Cats Warehouse
1505 N. Sherman Drive
Indianapolis, IN
Important: We'll meet at the warehouse first and then travel together to our shelter-building location.
🧤 What to Bring & How to Prepare
If you've never attended Shelterpalooza, here are a few helpful tips:
Bring gloves! Gardening or work gloves are perfect. Straw can be rough on your hands, and you'll be handling plenty of it.
Consider wearing a mask. Straw dust and small Styrofoam particles can make the air dusty. A mask can help keep you comfortable.
Cordless or Corded Power Drills with a 6 Inch whole cutter. Bonus if you have a large extension cord due to the size of the warehouse.
Dress comfortably. Wear clothes you don't mind getting a little messy and comfortable shoes.
Bring a lawn chair if you'd like! It's nice to have somewhere to sit and enjoy while you take a break.
Bring the family! Older children and teenagers are welcome when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. There will be plenty of opportunities to help stuff shelters and be part of the fun!
Drinks, and snacks will be provided!
We'll have everything we need to build shelters, so just bring your enthusiasm, a willingness to help, and maybe a friend or two!
