About this Event
For our October Industry Night, we’re sitting down with Eric Longtin, creator of Planet of Sound Rock School, for a conversation about music mentorship, youth in music, and creating meaningful pathways into London’s music community.
Planet of Sound takes a mentorship-based approach to learning guitar, bass, drums and vocals, while also giving students opportunities to develop songwriting, band skills and live performance experience. But becoming a musician is about more than what happens in a lesson - it’s about finding opportunities to play, connect with other musicians and become part of a community.
We’ll talk about:
-The business and philosophy behind music mentorship
-Helping young musicians develop confidence and find their voice
-The importance of playing in bands, writing songs and performing live
-How venues and promoters can create more opportunities for younger musicians
-The value of all-ages shows and including emerging bands on established bills
-How established musicians, venues, festivals and audiences can help build the next generation of the local music scene
-What a healthy and sustainable music community can look like
This conversation is for musicians, parents, music educators, venue owners, promoters, festival organizers, established artists, and anyone interested in the future of London's music scene.
Come hear from someone who works with musicians at the very beginning of their journey — and join the conversation about how we can create more opportunities for them to take the next step.
