On Tuesday, December 8, Buncombe County will host an information session about the new Indoor Recreation Facility Project at Buncombe County Sports Park. The community can drop in at Sand Hill-Venable Elementary School any time from 5 to 7 p.m. to meet the team and learn more about the County’s first-ever indoor recreation facility. This facility, whose proposed location is on the current site of Field 9 in the upper section of the park, will meet a need for indoor recreation space presented in multiple Buncombe County plans. It will also expand the County’s ability to support emergency operations and response. The facility’s proposed amenities include basketball and volleyball courts, community meeting space, Parks & Recreation offices, and more, all while accommodating disaster response needs.
At the information session, staff from Buncombe County Parks & Recreation and General Services, along with the project team from architecture and design firm Method Studio, will be on hand to discuss proposed facility details, progress made on the project, next steps, and community questions.
