About this Event
Lori Tucker has sung the National Anthem for the Los Angeles Lakers and the Kansas City Royals. A 2018 Johnnie's Jazz Bar & Grille bio says she's sung on recordings, radio, and television since the early 1970s, in R&B, jazz, blues, and gospel.
In March 1994 she was singing at Plaza III on Pennsylvania Avenue. That year Myra Taylor founded the Wild Women of Kansas City with Geneva Price, Millie Edwards Nottingham, and Lori Tucker, and NPR's "Day to Day" featured the group in 2007. In 2017 Lori Tucker, Geneva Price, and Millie Edwards Nottingham were still performing as the Wild Women.
She's been a featured guest with the Twentieth Century Ink Spots many times, and she has performed with Everette DeVan and Richard "Groove" Holmes. In 2015 she was the guest singer with Tim Whitmer and the Consort Band at Unity Temple on the Plaza. Off the bandstand, she co-owned Grace Audio/Video Enterprises.
She plays under her own name at Johnnie's in Liberty, where she sang on October 9 and where the venue calls her "a Kansas City icon." Her earlier Blue Room dates came as half of All Tuckered Out! with Donna Tucker. Friday is the first one billed under her own name.
The Blue Room, 1600 E 18th St, Kansas City, MO 64108. Friday, November 27, 2026, at 5:30 pm. $5 general admission; complimentary for AJM members.
